Staying Productive

Staying productive during quarantine is essential to maintaining our well being. I know it's not the easiest thing in the world to find that self motivation, to push yourself to read your book or to workout, but we have to get through this with a positive mind and attitude. Personally, I have found that writing a weekly schedule can help get me out of bed, but, more so help with my ever so decreasing motivation levels. I don't strictly stick to my schedule though, on days where I don't feel like working out but and feel like immersing myself into the book i'm reading, I simply do so without being too harsh on myself. I am constantly reminding myself of the importance of staying home because that will not only save my life but save everyones life.

The universe is always on our side, whether we are able to see that or not, we can hope and pray that things work out and our lives go back to normal soon. Go back to a time where humans weren't so fearful of one another. It is natural human instinct to be selfish and stock up on necessities, but this is a global pandemic and a global issue, we have to help eachother, stocking up on products will not help us, maintaining a positive and mindful attitude during this pandemic will help us get to the other side.

The human race is interconnected and seeing as COVID-19 and the uncertain times it presents may last a little longer than expected, please Stay Home for your families, friends and yourself! We will get through this together. There is beauty in unity.

Below are the activities that I have kept myself occupied with, I hope this can bring some degree of happiness and peace to you as it did with me.

Meditation

There's no better way to start your day off than by meditating. Whether its 15 minutes or 30 minutes a day, calming your mind for just a few minutes a day will help you navigate the rest of your day in peace. Peace can go along way, don't forget to remind yourself that what your feeling is universal, that by no means invalidates your feeling of anxiety, stress and fear, but it may help you feel safer knowing that everyone is feeling the same way during this pandemic. Meditation will not dissolve your problems away, but it may help minimize the impact of the spread of the pandemic on your mental health. It is your job to ensure that your mental health does not spiral out of control because happiness and stability is what we need most to keep striving in these circumstances.

Exercise

It's easy to fall into the lazy zone. No motivation to get out of the bed, no motivation to eat healthy and even no motivation stay fit. Remember, someday, sooner than later I hope, this will all be over and we will telling future generations of 2020, the year the world was at home in isolation. When you think back on your memories, try to make them good memories while you still can, and what better than to make you happy than exercise? It has been proven time and time again that there is a correlation between exercise and depression, the more exercise the more likely your stress levels will reduce as the dopamine kicks in.

Yoga

Yoga enhances productivity, increases flexibility and improves the blood flow! I believe that in itself sums it up. Balance, we all need some balance in this chapter of our lives, and yoga is here to provide us with that balance, whether you are struggling to work from home or teaching your kids from home, balance and mindfulness will help you go about your day at ease.

Writing

Write that book you've always wanted to write, or perfect that poem you've been working on for a while and build up the courage to send it to your loved ones. If there's anything COVID-19 has taught us, its that life is short. We cannot guarantee our tomorrows, but we can guarantee our todays. Our time on this earth is so valuable, do what you love, write whatever it is that your heart desires. Writing is healing.

Rupi Kaur has recently published a writing workshop on her instagram account, I have personally given this a try myself and I was so amazed at how far my mind can go with a little guidance.
